A private space to share files on the web
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Last Updated: March 31, 20261. What is WebShare.Space?
WebShare.Space, also called WebShare Space or WebShare for short, is an app for sharing files securely and privately, available at https://webshare.space. Just select or drop your files into the app. A private, temporary space is created for you. Your files are encrypted and securely uploaded there. You can share a link to download the files.
You can also protect your space further with an access code and adjust the expiration. When expired, the space is automatically deleted along with its files.
2. What can I do with files on WebShare Space?
If you are the sender who uploaded the files, you can delete them until you close the browser tab you used to create the space and upload the files. After the browser tab is closed, you can no longer delete the files or change anything in the space.
If you are a recipient, you can download the files until they expire.
3. Does the recipient need an account to download the file?
No. Recipients do not need to create an account or log in. They just need the share link and the access code. The access code is included in the link by default, but you can choose to separate it for added security.
4. Are my shared files private and secure?
Yes. Files are encrypted on the sender's device and only decrypted on the recipient's devices. Without the share link and access code, no one — including us — can read or tamper with them.
Keep in mind that WebShare Space protects files in transit with end-to-end encryption, but does not scan or moderate file contents. You're responsible for ensuring you know and trust the sender of any files you receive, and that any files you share are yours to share.
5. Who can see and download my files?
Only those with the download link can see and download your files. If you've set a separate access code, they'll need that too.
6. What if I need to send a file larger than 100MB?
WebShare Space is free for sharing files up to 100 MB. If you need to share a larger file, split it into smaller files and share them separately.
WebShare Space with virtually unlimited file sizes is coming soon.
7. Is the link expiration time based on the sender's or recipient's time zone?
The link expiration time is displayed according to the time zone on the user's device. The sender sets the link's expiration in their own time zone, and it is automatically adjusted to the recipient's time zone when they open the link. For example, if a sender in Vietnam sets an expiration of 11:59 PM on April 15, 2026, a recipient in Chicago, USA will see the expiration as 11:59 AM on April 15, 2026 — because Vietnam is 12 hours ahead of Chicago.
8. What happens if I don't set an expiration for the link?
If you don't set an expiration, your space and its files will be automatically deleted at 11:59 PM the day after the space is created, in your local time zone.
